Armin van Buuren and Lilly Palmer have joined forces in a high-energy techno collaboration

How Armin van Buuren and Lilly Palmer Are Redefining the Line Between Trance and Techno with a High Energy Two Track EP

The distance between trance and techno continues to shrink, and few collaborations illustrate this evolution better than the latest studio reunion between Armin van Buuren and Lilly Palmer. After their explosive Face2Face performance at A State of Trance Mexico in late 2025, the two artists officially release a powerful two track EP titled Ayi Giri / Dopamine Machine, marking another bold step in Armin’s ongoing creative transformation.

Premiered during their back to back set in Mexico City and tested throughout the 2025 festival circuit at events like AMF, both tracks reflect the harder and faster direction of the Transformation era of A State of Trance. The focus is clear. Peak time intensity, warehouse energy, and no compromises.

Dopamine Machine Pushes Industrial Techno Pressure

Dopamine Machine is built around relentless momentum. A heavy driving kick anchors the track, while a hypnotic vocal loop repeating “dopamine machine” locks listeners into a mechanical groove. The track strongly reflects Lilly Palmer’s industrial techno identity and is designed with dark clubs and late night warehouse floors in mind.

Armin van Buuren’s influence appears through subtle melodic tension rather than classic euphoric breakdowns. The result is a raw techno weapon that still carries emotional charge.

Ayi Giri Blends Tribal Techno and Psy Trance Energy

On Ayi Giri, the duo explore a more mystical and tribal atmosphere. Heavy percussion and dark layered textures dominate the arrangement, while the high BPM recalls Armin’s previous psy influenced work such as Great Spirit with Vini Vici. The track balances ritualistic tension with modern techno power, making it particularly effective for large scale festival moments.

Lilly Palmer’s rhythmic precision keeps the track grounded in techno, while Armin’s melodic instincts give it a spiritual edge that cuts through massive sound systems.

A Collaboration Built Beyond the Studio

The creative chemistry between Armin van Buuren and Lilly Palmer extends far beyond the studio. The project evolved through months of close collaboration, including studio sessions, Face2Face performances, and a special back-to-back closing Lilly Palmer’s own ADE event.

“This collaboration has been an intense creative journey, shaped by constant exchange, Face2Face performances, and testing the tracks in real club and festival environments,” Lilly Palmer said.

The partnership first gained major attention when Palmer remixed Armin’s iconic anthem Blah Blah Blah, premiered during A State of Trance 2024 in Rotterdam. That moment laid the foundation for a collaboration that now fully embraces techno culture while respecting trance roots.

Out Now on Armada Music

The Ayi Giri / Dopamine Machine EP is out now via Armada Music, delivering a crossover release that respects both genres while forcing them into new territory. Rather than softening edges for accessibility, Armin van Buuren and Lilly Palmer double down on intensity, proving that trance and techno can coexist without losing identity.

This release stands as a clear statement. The future of dance music is not about genre borders, but about energy, intention, and fearless collaboration.
