Technics just announced its latest SL-1000R turntable. According to reviews, the deck will retail for $20,000, placing it in the outer reaches of the elite audiophile market.

The electronics giant broke the news at the CES tech conference in Las Vegas. Like the SP-10R, the SL-1000R aims for reference class playback quality, boasting a wow and flutter level of 0.015%, a 10mm thick brass weight platter and a new "unwanted noise reduction circuit." Its total weight comes in just over 40kg and Panasonic claims the turntable has the world's best signal to noise ratio.

Aura Scarsella, Italian DJ and Producer, moved to Berlin and decided to investigate in musical knowledge by studying sound engineering, electroacoustics, sound psychology and specializing in Ableton Live and Logic.

Beatport has taken the time to reveal their top lists of 2017 for song, label, and artist. 

Deep house duo Camelphat dominated the awards winning Most Popular Artist and holding on to the top two spots on the Most Popular Tracks list.

Camelphat’s anthemic “Cola” was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, it also comes as no surprise the track ranks No. 1 and the group is Beatport’s most popular artist of the year.

A second Camelphat track, “Hangin Out With Charlie,” came in at number two, indicative of what a big year it has been for the UK duo.
