The festival juggernaut — which will hit nine Chinese cities as well as Taipei this year — will land in Sydney later in 2017, with full details to be announced at a later date.
The move was announced on Friday by Storm promoters A2LiVE, who are looking to position themselves as a key player in the lucrative Asian festival market. Since its inception in 2013 the festival has grown to become the biggest EDM event in China, hosting dance music A-listers like including Zedd, Skrillex, Tiesto, Avicii, RL Grime and Duke Dumont.

Last year during Amsterdam Dance Event conference, a panel moderated by China-based DJ Spencer Tarring discussed the huge potential of China as the rising promised land for Electronic Dance Music (EDM). This potential market is immense: with over 1 billion inhabitants China counts 200 million people between 14 and 24 years old, the primary target audience for EDM. Although electronic music is still a niche market in this huge country, the Chinese EDM scene has been rapidly growing over the past year(s).
