Ultra Music Festival announced it’s coming to Australia!
Ultra Music Festival already stages events on five different continents but in 2018, it’s adding one more to the list: Australia.
Today at Miami’s Bayfront Park, where UMF’s flagship event is currently underway, the festival juggernaut announced its plans to expand Down Under. In a moment captured on the festival’s live stream, Ultra’s mainstage MC revealed that Australia has “joined its global family”.
Video footage of the big announce has been shared on social media by Melbourne’s Lucky Ent, with the owner of the touring and artist management company posting on his personal Facebook page that the news is “official”.
But we might be waiting a while to find out what Australian city (or cities?) Ultra has its sights on – there hasn’t been an official announcement from UMF HQ yet, and the festival’s website does not currently list Australia among their global destinations.
Plans to bring Ultra to our shores have been in the works for years – in 2013, the festival told fans they would be setting up shop in Australia “in 2014”. Rumours about a possible Australian expansion have whispered about on and off since then.
Currently Ultra holds events in eight different Asian destinations – including Bali, Singapore, Korea and Hong Kong – as well as in dance hotspots like Croatia and Buenos Aires.
