Amelie Lens EXHALE Albania Show Cut Short by Authorities

The Belgian techno artist said the debut EXHALE event in Tirana was stopped before she could properly finish her set

Amelie Lens’ EXHALE Albania debut came to an unexpected early end after the Belgian techno artist’s show in Tirana was reportedly stopped by authorities before she could properly finish her set.

The event took place at Sheshi Italia in Albania’s capital, marking the first EXHALE show in the country. According to reports, the interruption was connected to issues around extending the authorized running time beyond midnight. Lens later addressed the situation in a public Facebook post, writing: “I’m sorry that we were shut down and I was unable to properly finish my set (we had all the permits!).”

Lens also shared footage from the night, showing the scale of the EXHALE Albania debut before the event was cut short. The moment can also be seen in this video shared by DJane Mag on Instagram, giving further context to the atmosphere in Tirana and to her message that the show ended before she could properly finish her set.

Despite the abrupt ending, Lens described the night as an extraordinary moment for the EXHALE community and confirmed that she intends to return. Her response gave the incident a more hopeful tone, framing the Albania debut not as a failed stop, but as an unfinished chapter for one of techno’s most active global platforms.

EXHALE continues to grow as a global techno platform

Founded and led by Amelie Lens, EXHALE has become one of the most recognizable techno platforms of the last decade, connecting events, label activity and a wider underground community under one clear artistic vision.

The Tirana stop arrived during another busy period for Lens. Earlier in April, she released whatever you do, a new single via Sony Music. The track pairs a light vocal melody with her signature driving techno sound and follows “Young Forever” and “Falling Into Acid Dreams”, the latter released through her own EXHALE imprint.

A symbolic year for Amelie Lens and EXHALE

The Albania show also lands in a symbolic year for the Belgian artist. In 2016, Lens released her debut three track EP EXHALE on the Italian imprint Lyase Recordings, an early statement that helped shape the intensity and precision that would later define her career.

Since then, Amelie Lens has built one of the strongest identities in contemporary techno, balancing high impact festival performances with a curatorial role that continues to spotlight underground talent.

While the Albania event ended earlier than expected, Lens’ own words suggest that EXHALE’s connection with Tirana is not over.
