AlphaTheta Expands CDJ 3000X With Native Apple Music Streaming

New firmware update unlocks direct access to over 100 million tracks on the DJ deck

AlphaTheta has announced a major new firmware update that brings Apple Music integration to the CDJ 3000X, marking a significant step forward in standalone DJ performance. The update allows DJs to stream music directly from Apple Music without the need for a laptop during a set.

Released as firmware ver. 1.30 update is part of AlphaTheta’s StreamingDirectPlay ecosystem. With it, Apple Music subscribers can browse and load tracks straight from the deck, accessing a catalog of more than 100 million songs, personal playlists, and Apple Music curated charts in real time.

How the Apple Music integration works

To enable the feature, users must connect their account through rekordbox CloudDirectPlay. After logging into rekordbox, DJs can sign in to Apple Music by using a smartphone connected to the system and authenticating directly from the front panel of the controller. Once completed, the full Apple Music library becomes available on supported hardware.

This workflow is designed to keep performance setups minimal while maintaining access to a vast and constantly updated music catalog. As a result, DJs can respond more dynamically to crowds without relying on pre downloaded libraries.

More AlphaTheta systems now support Apple Music

In addition to the CDJ 3000X, AlphaTheta has expanded Apple Music compatibility to several of its all in one systems. These include the OPUS QUAD, OMNIS DUO, and XDJ AZ. Furthermore, a wider range of AlphaTheta gear can access Apple Music when used with rekordbox on Mac and Windows.

This broader rollout highlights AlphaTheta’s focus on flexibility, giving DJs multiple hardware options depending on their performance style and technical preferences.

StreamingDirectPlay continues to grow

Apple Music becomes the latest platform added to AlphaTheta’s StreamingDirectPlay service. The feature previously welcomed Beatport Streaming and TIDAL, which were integrated in December 2024. Together, these services position AlphaTheta as one of the most streaming friendly ecosystems in the professional DJ market.

With streaming now firmly embedded into high end club and festival setups, this update reflects a wider shift in how DJs discover, prepare, and perform music.
