SoundCloud Launches On‑Demand Vinyl Pressing in Partnership with elasticStage
In a move that could reshape how independent artists release physical music, SoundCloud has announced a new partnership with UK-based startup elasticStage to offer vinyl records on demand—with no upfront costs, no minimum orders, and global distribution to over 90 countries.
The service is designed to be simple and accessible. Artists select songs already uploaded to their SoundCloud account, submit artwork and credits, and send the project for approval. Once approved, SoundCloud creates a unique sales page where fans can order vinyl directly. Each copy is pressed only after it's purchased, eliminating the need for bulk inventory or risky investments.
This innovation is being hailed as a major win for independent musicians and underground electronic producers, especially as vinyl continues its cultural resurgence. According to SoundCloud, vinyl sales have grown by over 300% since 2016, and demand for tangible, collectible formats shows no signs of slowing down.
“For the first time, artists can offer a truly premium, physical version of their music without barriers to entry,” said Steve Rhodes, CEO and founder of elasticStage. “Our mission is to democratize vinyl production and make it viable for creators at any stage in their careers.”
The audio quality is also receiving industry praise. Grammy-winning producer Dan Grech-Marguerat described the pressings as “high-end, with incredible definition that will shock any avid record lover.” Producer Paul Epworth noted that the sound is “nearly indistinguishable from the original masters.”

The partnership offers more than convenience—it also serves as a strategic tool for artist branding. From exclusive limited editions to physical promo kits for DJs and press, the service opens up new creative and commercial opportunities. Vinyl remains a symbol of credibility and artistry within the music community, especially in electronic and club culture.
For fans, it means access to exclusive physical releases from emerging artists they support. For artists, it represents a new revenue stream with minimal logistical complexity. elasticStage handles all manufacturing, shipping, and customer service. Artists simply get paid for each unit sold.
Currently, the service is available through a waitlist for SoundCloud Artist Pro users in good standing. SoundCloud says the rollout will be phased, with more creators granted access in the coming months.
This launch reflects SoundCloud’s ongoing effort to empower creators beyond streaming. In recent years, the company has introduced direct monetization tools, fan-powered royalties, and integrations aimed at building a sustainable ecosystem for independent artists.
For DJs and producers—especially those operating in niche or emerging scenes—this could be a significant development. With no financial risk and high-quality pressings, vinyl can now be part of an artist’s toolkit regardless of budget or label backing.
In a digital-first era, SoundCloud’s foray into physical formats highlights a growing appetite for tangible music experiences. And now, with vinyl-on-demand, artists don’t have to choose between streaming and physical—they can do both, on their own terms.
