Early Morning Fire Destroys Brazil's legendary Warung Beach Club
Social media footage shows a fierce blaze tearing through the popular Itajaí venue, which sits on the south coast surrounded by forest. According to news site g1, the fire began at around 10 AM this morning, January 22nd, and the smoke could be seen for miles around. Read Warung’s first official statement below:
“NOTE WARUNG BEACH CLUB
"The company informs that the fire that occurred this Wednesday morning (22nd), in one of the club's lanes, has already been contained by the Fire Department team and that there was no one at the scene at the time of the incident.
"Warung Beach Club reinforces that only material damage to the structure was recorded. The competent bodies are already investigating the facts and at 19:00 a new statement will be released.

It's unclear how it started or how much damage has been caused. No injuries have been confirmed so far. Opened in 2002, Warung is one of Latin America's best-known house and techno clubs.
