Siana Catherine: The Spin Queen
The first and only Indian female on the UMF stage on 7th September was Siana Catherine. Born in 1993, Siana is one of the youngest Djanes in the country and is quickly climbing the ladder of success. From Sunburn to Vh1Supersonic 101 to the Ultra India she’s left no stone unturned to make her a well-recognized name in the circuit. She has 15 India tours across 27 cities in her kitty and her attention to detail combined with dedication towards producing quality music has made her shows a 100% houseful.
The New Indian Express had labelled her as an oxymoron to describe parties and DJs. She has indeed made it clear that age and gender are no hindrances if you possess the real talent. Siana also runs a podcast known as Powermix which broadcasts in over 18 different countries and has allowed her to leave a mark on not only the Indian but the global scenario.
Starting with literally a dollar, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt Siana has spent some sleepless years in her pursuit of establishing herself as a DJ. She told The Hindu in an interview, “Fame is something that can come fast and bring you down just as fast if you have the wrong attitude. Until you respect the crowd that made you famous, you will never make it big.” Her amazing level of energy and friendly attitude coupled with a deadly mixed genre set has made her the favorite of party goers.
