A new mural dedicated to DJ & former Radio 1 host Annie Mac has appeared in Dublin

The mural was painted by local artist Emmaline Blake for No More Hotels. The mural features Annie's words from her last appearance on Radio 1: "Life goes by really, really fast. Life is short. It thunders by. If you like the music you gotta get up and dance, Just do it!."

Ammie shared her emotions about the mural on Instagram:  "I’m so touched to see this in my hometown of Dublin. Painted by @emmaleneblake on a space donated by @thebernardshaw venue, and featuring the last words I said on BBC Radio 1.

The piece is part of the No More Hotels campaign in Dublin - a campaign that started after some of the most iconic clubbing venues in the city were replaced with hotels. The club scene in Ireland was already struggling with it’s spaces being eradicated, and then the pandemic hit. Now, the Irish live events sector is absolutely on its knees, with no clear roadmap back. I hope that Ireland can get it’s nightlife back soon and when it does eventually come back, that the club scene comes back stronger than ever."

As No More Hotels say,
“clubbing brings people together, it provides growth, art, identity and a rich economy. We celebrate how clubbing enables us to communicate, create and connect in unique and magical ways”.
