METOODJS Launches Fundraiser to Support Victims of Sexual Violence in Electronic Music

After receiving nearly 300 testimonies, the organisation is seeking funds to help survivors access professional support without financial barriers

METOODJS has launched a new fundraising campaign to provide legal and psychological support for victims of sexist and sexual violence within the electronic music community. Through its Listen, Support, Act fundraiser, the collective aims to remove the financial barriers that often prevent survivors from accessing professional help and pursuing legal action.

Created by a collective of music industry professionals with more than a decade of experience, METOODJS says it was built out of years of informal victim support carried out behind the scenes. According to the group, its members have long helped survivors by listening, offering guidance, and connecting them with trusted professionals. What began as a grassroots support effort has now evolved into a more structured initiative backed by legal, psychological, and media professionals.

The organisation, now officially recognised as an association under French law, says that this formal step has allowed it to move from informal assistance to a coordinated support system. Today, its network includes a lawyer and a psychologist working directly within the association, alongside a wider circle of legal experts, therapists, journalists, and trusted industry contacts.

Since the beginning of the initiative, METOODJS says it has received nearly 300 testimonies from individuals who chose to come forward. The group states that several cases have already been referred to legal professionals, while some victims are currently in contact with lawyers to explore possible legal action. It also says that investigative journalists have begun working on certain cases, and that many victims have already been connected with therapists through its network.

The fundraiser was launched in response to what the organisation describes as an urgent need for accessible support. In its official campaign text, METOODJS explains that many victims want to take legal action but are unable to do so because of financial obstacles, while others continue to deal with trauma and distress without access to affordable psychological care. The fundraiser is intended to help cover legal advice, legal representation, and therapy sessions for those in need.

According to the campaign, the majority of funds raised will go directly toward victim support. This includes legal assistance from lawyers experienced in abuse and harassment cases in the music industry, as well as therapy with psychologists familiar with trauma linked to these situations. The association also says it will publish annual summaries showing the number of legal cases supported, the number of therapy sessions funded, and the total amount spent on victim support, while preserving the anonymity of those involved.

A portion of the remaining funds will be used to strengthen the association’s ability to operate safely and effectively. That includes secure data management, cloud storage, case management tools, and legal protection in the event of defamation claims or other legal challenges. The organisation also says resources may be allocated to urgent missions such as workshops, educational materials, reporting platforms, and other safety initiatives for the music community.

The launch of the fundraiser follows renewed momentum around abuse allegations in electronic music earlier this year, particularly in the hard techno scene, where public accusations encouraged more victims to speak out. In recent coverage, METOODJS said this wave of testimonies reinforced the need for a sustainable support structure capable of responding quickly and responsibly.

In a statement shared alongside the campaign, the organisation said it is committed to offering “a safe and trusted space for victims” while ensuring that access to legal and psychological support is not limited by financial means. With Listen, Support, Act now live, METOODJS is calling on the wider music community to help fund a response system built around care, accountability, and long term support.

Victims can also submit testimonies through the group’s official testimony form.
