Lady Gaga Unveils ‘The Cure’ As Surprise New Single During Epic Coachella Set

"And if you say you’re okay, I’m going to heal you anyway."

Lady Gaga dropped a surprise new song at Coachella Saturday as the singer premiered her single "The Cure" during her headlining set Saturday night.

The dancehall-inspired synth-pop track popped up midway through Gaga's 18-song, career-spanning set, which also featured "Bad Romance," "Poker Face," "The Edge of Glory" and "Telephone," her collaboration with Beyoncé; Gaga was substituting for the pregnant Beyoncé, who was the initial Coachella headliner but will instead perform at the 2018 fest.

"The Cure" arrives just six months after Gaga released her fifth LP Joanne. It's unclear whether "The Cure" is destined for a Joanne reissue, a one-off single or evidence that Gaga is already working on a follow-up; the singer told the Coachella crowd she was "back in the studio."

"My new single 'The Cure' is available on iTunes now," Gaga told the Coachella crowd as her set ended. As promised, soon after Gaga's performance, the singer dropped the studio version of "The Cure" on streaming services, as well as the single's cover art.
