DJANEMAG: Hi, glad to have a talk with you! Who is KTRYN?

Name three unknown facts about you.

KTRYN: 1. I am a skilled make-up artist and spokeswoman.

2. My sens of tact helped me besides DJing when I was a show dancer.

3. I took singing lessons.

DJANEMAG: Why did you decide to start DJing?

Is it possible to listen to your vocals in your tracks?

KTRYN: The first contact with electronic dance music was when I was fifteen. I felt inspired and started with beat matching. At the age of seventeen I bought my first DJ players the AXIS 2, cause Djing is a lot of fun and I‘ve been hooked ever since.

Before I started producing under the name KTRYN I had had, for example, a Tech House project under the name Katrin Fabieu. The song is called Paradox and I did the lyrics & vocals.

DJANEMAG: How would you define your own sound?

Do you feel it’s become more and more difficult to be unique in electronic music these days?

KTRYN: The sound of KTRYN is Trance, Big Room, Psychedelic. Also I like to expriment with new sounds. I'm working on some new releases at the moment.

For me every artist is unique and so am I.

DJANEMAG: What’s one track that consistently goes off every time?

KTRYN: It‘s still the song „Going Crazy“ by Hardwell & Blasterjaxx

DJANEMAG: Do you have a favourite female artist/producer to work with?

KTRYN: Yes, my favourite female artist/producer is Laila and we worked together on a song, which will be released during winter time.

DJANEMAG: Any more collaborations coming up?

KTRYN: Sure, the next collab will be with the ukrainian Trance Duo DRYM.

DJANEMAG: Do you have to deal with a lot of challenges starting your career as a female DJ?

KTRYN: It‘s definitly harder to bulid up a career as women in the male dominated music industry, cause sexism is still a topic.

DJANEMAG: We need to know where can we have a chance to enjoy your live show! Share some tour dates or upcoming gigs!

KTRYN: The project KTRYN is quite young, so I‘m open for national and international bookings. Let me know where you want to see me playing.

DJANEMAG: How do you usually feel when the party is over?

KTRYN: When I‘m mixing I‘m totally in a flow. While and after the party I feel enthusiastic.

DJANEMAG: In how much, do you feel, is the club experience shaped by cultural differences? Do you, when travelling, take these cultural differences into consideration – and in how far has your approach as a DJ, perhaps, even benefited from playing in different countries and in front of different crowds?

KTRYN: I did experienced some cultural differences and I like that each is unique. It‘s easy for me to adapt in different cultures and I like the diversity. I get inspired by exchanging with people I get to know around the world.

DJANEMAG: Do you have any goals to meet by 2020 (personal or career-wise)?

KTRYN: My goal is to advance personal and as artist. I want to relase a lot of music and I would like to play on big festivals like Ultra, Tomorrowland, Parookaville and many more.
