Carly Wilford released her debut track on Toolroom
Carly Wilford decided to learn to produce last January and made beats during lockdown after doing the Toolroom Academy Course.
Her first track has been picked up by Toolroom and came out on their 'Leaders of the New School’ album featuring Mr V. recently.
"A year ago this month I started the @toolroomrecords @toolroomacademy course. After working full time as a DJ I felt that I had hit a glass ceiling and wanted to take things to the next level. I knew it was going to be tough but wanted to commit and put the work in. After hearing the statistic that only 2% of women were music producers, I knew it was time to step up.During lockdown, I learnt to make beats. Guided by the incredibly talented academy tutors @benremembermusic & @petegriffiths they boot-camped us and we learnt things within three months that some of us never knew we could.
The months after the course I got my head down & developed the track I had worked on... and then sent it to the label. Toolroom signed it.
This week, my track is out for pre-order and lands on Toolroom Trax on 15th January featuring @djmrv and features alongside some brilliant new producers.
It’s made lockdown a blessing in many ways as I had the time and space to focus and be creative. If you’re wanting to learn to produce, get involved. It can seem daunting at first but as you keep working at it, everything falls in to place.
Huge shout outs to @dannyrhysmusic for being a next level A&R and for the team at Toolroom for being so supportive.",
Carly shared the story via her social media.
