Burning Man opens 2026 ticket sales following a challenging year in the desert
The iconic desert gathering unveils its 2026 ticketing structure, pricing tiers and new payment plan following last year’s challenges
Burning Man has officially revealed its 2026 ticketing structure and pricing, introducing a clearer and more transparent system ahead of the next edition of the iconic desert gathering. The announcement reinforces the nonprofit’s commitment to showing participants exactly how ticket revenue supports the event, its community and its large-scale artistic ecosystem.
Organized by the Burning Man Project, the festival will once again transform Black Rock City in the Black Rock Desert into a temporary metropolis driven by art, radical self expression and collective participation.
Registration dates and Sunrise Sale
Ticket registration opens at noon on January 26 and runs until February 3, 2026. The first opportunity to purchase tickets will be the Sunrise Sale, scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Organizers expect more than 70,000 participants from over 100 countries to attend the 2026 edition.
According to Burning Man CEO Marian Goodell, the event remains “the most unique gathering on the planet, bringing art, creativity and innovation together on the blank canvas of the Nevada desert.”

Burning Man 2026 ticket tiers explained
All tickets grant the same access to the event, regardless of price. The difference lies in how much each tier contributes to sustaining the festival and funding community initiatives.
The lowest priced ticket starts at $550, followed by the Get The Gift option at $675, which provides standard access to Black Rock City and its core infrastructure.
The Pay Your Way tickets begin at $775 and are designed for participants who are able to contribute more toward the festival’s regional programs and environmental impact.
At the top end, Give The Gift tickets are priced at $975, $1,500 and $3,000. Revenue from these tiers helps subsidize reduced price tickets, fund large scale art installations and support participation grants across the global Burning Man community.
New payment plan and vehicle passes
For 2026, Burning Man has introduced a payment plan option, a move expected to make the experience more accessible to a wider audience. While tickets cover entry to the event, all attendees must still purchase a vehicle pass in order to access Black Rock City.
Additional ticket sales are planned throughout the year, including a Stewards Sale in March and the Main Sale in April, subject to availability.
Looking back at a challenging 2025 edition
The ticketing announcement follows a turbulent 2025 festival marked by extreme weather conditions, including dust storms, heavy rain and flooding that disrupted access to the site. Authorities also dealt with multiple serious incidents, ongoing investigations and legal disputes related to filming restrictions during cleanup operations.
Organizers have emphasized that lessons from last year are informing preparations for 2026.
Burning Man 2026 theme: Axis Mundi
The theme for Burning Man 2026 is Axis Mundi, a concept rooted in global mythologies that describe a symbolic center connecting humanity, nature and the cosmos. While the theme is intended to inspire artistic interpretation, participation is not required to follow it strictly.
More information about ticketing and registration is available on the Burning Man website.
