Boiler Room London postponed due to death of Queen Elizabeth II
Boiler Room London has announced that its all-day program this Saturday (17 September) has been canceled due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II
Southwark Council reportedly refused permission for the party, which was headlined by DJ EZ and Jyoty as a mark of respect. A number of public events were affected by the official “mourning period” this week – including the Overflo festival at PXSSY Palace.
The event, to be held at Burgess Park, was to have DJ EZ in room one with Juls, Madam X, p-rallel, Prestige Pak, YU QT, and room two with Jyoty Bluetoof, DJ Q, Dr. Dubplate, Jordss and Saachi.
Yesterday, Boiler Room released a statement canceling the night, which read: “We are devastated that we will not be able to continue on September 17th. Both Southwark Council and ourselves have looked at all options to ensure it can go ahead. For the reasons set out below, Southwark Council and the Metropolitan Police will not allow them to do so at this time.”
Although Government guidelines say events can go ahead if the organizer wishes, Boiler Room has said: “Southwark Council are the landowners of Burgess Park and therefore have the ability to cancel the event for reasons of reputation and also public safety to cancel.
“In addition, we are working closely with the Safety Advisory Group, which includes members of the London Ambulance Service, the Metropolitan Police and Environmental Health, all of whom will no longer have the resources to support this weekend’s event.”
People have posted their thoughts on the canceled night on social media. Read some of them below.
For those who have already purchased tickets for the Boiler Room event, they remain valid for the new date that will be announced shortly with possibly the same cast. People can also request a refund here or through the app.
