Dagmar Otto aka DJ DaY-Már started her impressive career as a Hardcore/Hardtechno DJ in 2005, when she signed an exclusive contract with Masters of Hardcore (nowadays Most Wanted DJ Agency). Since that year her career skyrocketed. Tracks like Embrace the night, Guess What, Dirty and several Event Anthems she released, are played and loved by Hardcore lovers worldwide. Her excellent mixing skills and productions with mixtures of expressive vocals, synths that cut like glass, atmospheric rhythms and pounding kicks drives the audience from rage to tears and back. Masters of Hardcore, Dominator, DefQon 1, Thunderdome..name it and she was there to make the crowd go crazy all over the world!

Djanemag: DaY-mar sounds so interesting! Who came up with your nickname and What does it mean?

DaY-mar: *Haha! My real name is Dagmar so i tried to make it a bit more easier to pronounce in english.. So after some puzzeling i came up with DaY-mar!

Djanemag: Tell me please, how do you begin with music and Djing?

DaY-mar: *I started partying when i was 15. We got already lots of big party's here in holland. At 19 i was playing a bit with the turntables of friend at an afterparty and it went freak'n well for the first time! And a bizar 1 year later i signed at the biggest hardcore agency Masters of Hardcore!

Djanemag: Travelling is a significant part of every famous DJ life! What countries or cities do you like most of all and why? Do you like to play in your native country?

DaY-mar: *yes, well i dont like to travel alone, so i always bring a friend or colleague so to be honest i have fun everywhere! I really like to play in every country because the are all different but all very nice and enthousiastic when i'm there! But offcourse Holland is partyland number one for me ;)

Djanemag: Do you think that «Dj world» is men's world? In your opinion is it harder for girl to become famous Dj?

DaY-mar: *nowadays i think it's even easier for a girl.. Just look good and press a play-button and bamm your in. But when i started i had to work for it. Really hard before men accepted me as a collegue..

Djanemag: What challenges have you faced being a female DJ and how did you overcome them?

DaY-mar: *11 years ago i had to show other dj's that girls also can be creative and can work with the technique's. Also had to lock myself in a studio for weeks/months to show i could do and wanted the same. But hard work payed off!

Djanemag: Could you describe your feelings when you play music?

DaY-mar: *i get lost in music when i play. If i have a shitty week of day everything is gone after my set and i feel euphoric and happy again :D

Djanemag: What are your biggest sources of inspiration when you are mixing or producing music?

DaY-mar: *When i'm mixing my audience is my inspiration. when I'm producing i get a lot of inspiritation from female vocal songs, whatever style it might be.. I never produced a song without a female vocal or vocalist in it haha! dont know why..

Djanemag: Is there any female Dj you admire and want to play with?

DaY-mar: *i always love to play with my friend Korsakoff, always a pleasure!

Djanemag: Can you share your dreams and plans for future concerning Djing? What would you like to achieve?

DaY-mar: *I'm working on a bunch of new fresh uptempo hardcore tracks right now and lots of cool gigs are coming up! Also thinking about a new project to start with a little bit different sound.. But that's a secret for now B-)

"Thanks for this interview!! Hope to see tons of more people in the whole world!
XOXO" (DaY-mar)
