Some Blonde Dj Biography
Some Blonde DJ is the alter-ego stage name of Alicia Nicole Weir; one of the most promising young protégés to rise out of the world-renown music hub of Melbourne.
Naturally drawn to the magic of the stage, Alicia became emphatically consumed by a burning desire to get behind the decks whilst working as an assistant to the site manager of Australia’s largest dance festival organisation, Future Entertainment. With a back-stage pass and personal insight into the revolution that has swept popular culture of its feet, it wasn’t long before she owned her first set of DJ decks. Shortly after, Some Blonde DJ was born.
“I’m just a down-to-earth girl who loves music and having fun with my friends like anyone else. ‘Some Blonde DJ’ is like the superhero costume every child wore to transform into anyone they wanted to be. When I’m Djing, I lose all self-control. In that moment, there’s nothing else in this world except the music I’m playing and the people rocking the dance-floor with me. It’s who and where I want to be.”
Playing her first show in a modest St Kilda venue in January 2010 to Future Music Festival, Summadayze in 2012 and Ultraglow 2012, the journey has been short, sweet and plentiful. Armed with a reputation as the ultimate party starter, Alicia is a constant collector of fans, with crowds subscribing to her energetic output of influential EDM. Her mix-tapes have become the Saturday night soundtrack for the masses, heard spilling onto the streets from car stereos en route to her many residencies, which now spread stateside at some of Victoria’s biggest parties.
Inspired by the sounds of Steve Aoki, Nervo, Sven Vath & Fatboy Slim, Alicia has her targets set firmly on the art of production spending most of her waking hours in the studio. Relentless and patiently mastering the craft of digital sound design, expect some big room electro house, cross-genre, club-thumping collaborations on the horizon accompanied by the Some Blonde DJ name in the credits. With plans to tour nationally in 2013, the vibing Australian club scene is in for a treat as house music’s freshest face takes control of the dance-floor.
